Plasma blaster pistol mod by GirlyGamerAU Plasma blaster pistol mod by GirlyGamerAU
This was one of 3 mods I did the last week or two that were done to show how recycled pieces from other mods should be kept for re-use. This was a standard short revolver and I added a piece sawed off from the Battlestar Galactica mod I did a few weeks ago. I mounted that (the pump grip) as the main barrel (removed the original). This immediately made the blaster have a cool cyberpunk / scifi look to it.

I also added an acrylic tube with bright green LED. Mounted the LED workings inside the gun and placed the on / off switch above the trigger so it's hidden but accessible.

The decals state it's name, the Type 72 Promethean Plasma pistol for BioTech Securitas (made up, it's not from a TV show or movie, I just liked how it sounded).

As always more at my blog GirlyGamer.com.au or my Facebook page facebook.com/Nerfenstein

can you comment on the hump on the top? it reminds me of the "sight" from an early camcorder. very cool in this context.

So sorry, I never check DA!
The hump on top is actually a pump from a toy shotgun, flipped over and used upside down.

Since Notes don't seem to work anymore for whatever reason, I wanted to bring up the possibility of me gettin' my hands on this beauty for real. If you don't still have it, would it be possible to request a replica of sorts? :3

I usually deal with commissions via email (so I know where everything is). It's Nerfenstein@gmail.com :)

Color me embarrassed beyond belief. I felt so guilty 'bout buggin' you 'bout this item that I sent a note to JohnsonArms the other day askin' if he thought he could produce a similar product jus' so you wouldn't have to keep dealing with my persistent queries. Unfortunately the price he gave me isn't somethin' I can afford right now, which leads me to believe that I wouldn't be able to afford an exact replica from you either. :'( I'll keep your e-mail in mind tho'!

I didn't mind the messages, though it's easier for me through email as I can go well over a week without loading DA when I'm busy. I think some people think modding guns is a quick and easy thing, but it takes a lot of time when done right.
Thanks for keeping me in mind.

I still feel more than a little guilty about it all though, I mean... Yeah...
The last thing I wanted to do is give you the impression that I simply brushed you off because you didn't get back to me in a timely manner.
Perhaps once I get the money saved up you 'n I could discuss an entirely original customization job? :)

Don't feel bad, it's all cool. I have been smashed with commissions recently due to Halloween and various conventions. Happy to discuss something more concrete if you change your mind. No sweat.

Wow this was so long ago I barely remember doing it now. It did turn out well using the pump from a shotgun as the main barrel.

Hey man,

Out of curiosity would you allow me to use this design in a web comic that I'm working on? It's PERFECT for the sidearm that one of the major protagonists is supposed to have.

You just never cease to amaze me with this stuff. I dare never go near LEDs because I fear I will burn them out or use the wrong resistor (happened before. The poor little LEDs...:'()
Any who this looks very good and I love the name!

Thanks again matey. The LED in this was pre-wired and switched, so it really wasn't that hard in this case. I got the guy in the electronics store to write on the resistor packs what color LEDs they were for, so when I am wiring them I know straight away by looking at the packaging they're in :) Works a treat.
